a special word from mommy

hi all my furry buddies! i no gets to write today cuz mommy said she wants to axes you all somefin bout me. she no tells me what is iz. i thinks she is plans a supurrrrise parties for me!!!! i no thinks iz my purr-day again cuz i just has one. mommy's purrday is this week. maybe she is throwing me a party for her purrday!!!

or maybe its a very special Princess Pretty Floofy party cuz i iz pretty and floofy.....

you tells her i wants her to invites all of yous. And my boyfriend Oscar. And i likes lots of red mouses. And i want a big chick-hen all for me. and a catnip cake!

from jenny:

sadly no.... no party..... just want some advice and I know what PB would say: "gimme more chick-hen!!!! and more stinky goodness!"

I noticed PB is eating twice as much dry food per day as she used to. I've been giving her the same amount for months now and it always lasts two days before refilling. Now she's hoovering it in a day.

And she has been driving me crazy about wanting more wet food. She always gets half a can and she has been begging for more.

She was fixed back in the beginning of June but the new eating started about a week or two ago. Otherwise everything is good.

Any thoughts? I just want to make sure it isn't anything serious. One site suggested it could be that she is bored ----and since she does keep knocking all of her toys underneath immovable objects (ie the stove....) that could very well be!

Thank you for any suggestions! I'm going away at end of the week for 2 ngiths and don't want to be freaking out worried about her!

Praline recently started doing the same thing this last year and she is almost 14. I do monitor the dry food on a regular basis and don't give her free feeding anymore. The vet wasn't concerned about her eating twice as much stinky goodness because of it's water content. Praline is fine.

Has your weather changed? In the summer my cats really cut back on their eating. When it starts cooling off they start eating more as if they're storing up fat for the winter months.

Sometimes we cats just get REALLY hungry. Dry fuuds do contain much more carbohydrate than we need and sometimes this can lead to health problems like diabetes or digestive problems. If you are worried, it's always best to check with your vet what would be best to do. Vets will often give you advice over the phone too. Oliver, my bro' has a ball which you put dry fuuds in and he can roll it about whapping it, to get a piece of kibble as a reward - keesp him busy!

We have a set portion of food we get in the morning and evening, and our Mommeh monitors our weight to make sure we aren't gaining or losing weight. Our vet believes in setting down the food in the morning, and picking any uneaten food up after 30 minutes, and the same thing in the evening (not leaving it out for all day grazing).

You've gotten some good comments so far...our mom monitors how much we eat and tries not to give us more than normal...Whicky Wuudler had a good idea...we got that same food ball...just hafta remind mom to fill it up again once we empty it!

we go through phases like that too. when we start to devour all the crunchies our the mom makes shur she gets gluten free crunchies (we like the duck and green pea crunchies in the yellow bag at the pet store). we can eat more of those and not gain lots of weight.

Our DR. Hector tells Mom that we are addicted to food. He had her cut back the amount and measure it. we get one third cup in each bowl twice a day. and then we split a can of Meow Mix wet food. For the last two weeks. we have been cleaning the bowls and begging for more. Dr. Hector told Mom that we were small kitties and our tummies should not be wider than our heads! Well, we are not starving and we still have tummies that are a little too wide. Mom has kept to the same amount of food and we still keep asking for more. She thinks it is the seasons changing. Kitties are eating more to store fat for the long cold winter, which we don't really have in Texas.
